Hermie Bruno began his art journey at the age of 17 when he sold his first painting. He left university due to the financial burden it placed on his family. Over the next three years, he joined the Art Galleria, then located at the Baguio Convention Center, where he facilitated art workshops and honed his painting techniques despite lacking a well-stocked studio. This experimentation with limited resources led him to incorporate canvas lint into his figurative paintings, adding a unique texture.
Influenced by other Cordilleran artists, Hermie creatively employs the impasto technique by integrating leftover canvas to enhance the texture. This approach results in a rugged aesthetic that adds depth and character to his work. In 109, he launched his first solo exhibit titled "Highlander" at the Baguio Museum, showcasing the loves and struggles of Igorot farmers and further solidifying his connection to his cultural roots.
